Peterson records career high in Lehigh victory

2 1/2 weeks post hand surgery Kelly Peterson scores career high

 Two and half weeks ago Kelly Peterson (Northgate) thought her sensational JR season was ending. Peterson broke her hand, which required surgery. However, 2 1/2 weeks later Peterson returned for the Mountain Hawks to record a career high in points (17) as Lehigh defeated their rival Lafayette in conference play.

Star players shine bright in early going

Taylor and Ewing headline star studded high school cast

LMU bound Sophie Taylor (Adidas Elite) and Ashley Ewing (Elite 2014) opened league play with a bang last night. Taylor, a senior at Acalanes scored 22 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as her Dons defeated Las Lomas in league play. Ewing, just a sophomore for Campolindo also eclipsed the 20 point mark with 22 points of her own and also hadded a game high 6 steals as the Cougars knocked off Alhambra. Senior Mallory Brown (Elite 2012) also contributed with 15 points. Both Acalanes and Campolindo are 1-0 in league play.

In other Cal Star player games Madison West (Premier 1) and Jessica Vestal (Premier 1) led Berean Christian to the a 64-60 victory over two time league champion Clayon Valley with 24 and 17 points repectively. Kayla Taylor (Elite 2014) chipped in with 7 points in a losing effort for Clayton Valley. Natalie Romeo (Adidas Elite) scored 17 points in Carondelet's league opening win over Amador Valley. Concordia bound McKenna Daly (Adidas Elite) led all scorers with 24 points, including two 3 pointers in Granada's win oiver rival Foothill. Madison Craig (Adidas Elite) recorded a team high 14 points in a losing effort for the Falcons while Lindsay Allen (Premier 2) added 3 points. A trio of Mustangs propelled Monte Vista to their opening game win as Rachel Tagle (Elite 2014) had 6 points while Dillworth (Premier 1) and Rigo (Premier 2) added 8 and 3 points each. Down south a pair of Rams led nationally ranked St. Mary's Stockton to a blow out win over San Diego High School. Regina Camera (Adidas Elite) scored 16 points while Courtney Range(Adidas Elite) had a great all around game. 

And, this was just the first Tuesday of league play. There were a lot of Cal Stars players not in action Tuesday night that will make headlines in the coming weeks. Congratulations to all of the players.

8th Grade Elite wrap up at Holiday Classic

Fall ends with So. Cal Championship for 8th Grade Elite

 The 8th Grade Elite finished the 2011 fall season in grand style by winning the prestigious Swoosh Winter Classic in Anaheim, CA this past weekend. The Stars defeated Inglewood Revolution, SGV, NCBL and Team Zoom to claim the 16 team bracket.

The 8th grade elite finish the fall season at 25-5 and 5 tournament championships. Congratulations to all of the 8th grade players, coaches and families.
