Courtney Johnson Clendinen , Premier 1 head coach

Courtney will be taking a break this 2102 season and returning next year.

Courtney's impressive resume, both as a coach and a player, makes her a tremendous asset to the Cal Stars' program..

Courtney played for Cal from 1997 to 2001, and was first team All-Pac 10 following her senior season. Courtney was a starter and team captain for three years and voted as the teamMVP as a junior and senior. While at Cal, Courtney broke several records, some of which still stand today. She remains second on the all-time list at Cal in steals, and was the 13th player to score 1,000 points in her career.

Prior to Cal, Courtney was a standout for Antioch High School. In addition to being named all-league, league MVP and all-state, Courtney was selected as a Parade All-American.

Courtney left Antioch as the school's second-leading scorer (behind her sister). Courtney has been coaching since 1993 and coaching basketball since 1995.

Coach Johnson Clendinen was a co-coach at Miramonte High School alongside the legendary Darrell Hirashima. During her tenure at Miramonte, the Matadors won back-to-back league championships finished first in the North Coast Section and runner-ups in NorCal Division III NorCals in 2002.

Courtney spent five years with Orinda Magic as the head coach for the “Blue” high school teams, which traveled on the college viewing circuit.

During her time with the Orinda Magic, she was assisted by her father Sam Johnson. Coach Johnson has more than 40 years of coaching experience, including coaching three of his six children to full basketball scholarships. This duo has placed in the top five in Oregon, Nashville and several local tournaments throughout their time together. The 2005 Orinda Magic Blue team saw all nine players go on to play college basketball.  Since then, more than 10 of her players have gone on to play in college.

Coach Johnson Clendinen is married to Eugene Clendinen, who is the coach of MRC White of San Francisco. The couple has two children, Isaiah and step-daughter Shaunre, who plays at Barry University in Florida.

Currently Courtney serves as director of CYO Athletics for San Fransisco, San Mateo and Marin County.
