Miramonte star to play at Div 3 powerhouse Puget Sound

Kristine Miller announced Saturday night that she will join the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Miller will become the third player in the last four years coached by Kelly Sopak to attend the prestigious Division 3 Powerhouse in the Pacific Northwest. Miller also becomes the fourth Cal Star (2010 Class) to decide on a college in the last two weeks, Caban to Oregon Tech, Simmons to Arizona State and Hamilton to Chico State.

Miller, the neice of Coach Sopak had an outstanding senior campaign at Miramonte as the Matadors went 22-8 and reached the CIF Nor Cal Quarterfinals. Miller was the Mats 2nd leading scorer, behind Gonzaga bound 6'3 post Stephanie Golden. Miller also earned All League honors for the first time in her high school career.

Miller will follow Nothgate stars Claire Ely (2006) and Valerie Middleton (2009) to Puget Sound. Middleton will be a Sophomore next season While Ely will graduate in the spring.

"I am so excited for Kristine. She has an excellent opportunity to attend a great University and continue her true love... basketball. Puget Sound was the school that we targeted all along for Kristine so I am very pleased it all worked out", said Coach Sopak.
